About this site
Tools Used
This site is pretty much coded by hand. The GIMP and its offshoot Seashore were used for image work.
Web Browsers
Because this site uses fairly modern standards, it may not work properly on older browsers or those that do not follow these standards well. I’m assuming that if you are using Netscape Navigator 4.x it will look pretty horrendous. It may still look a little funky in Microsoft Internet Explorer (especially versions 6 and older). Quite frankly, I’ve grown tired of testing it in different browsers on different platforms. It should be usable in any modern web browser, and it should look good in any browser that actually follows modern web standards.
The entire site looks as intended in browsers that do a decent job of adhering to these standards, such as Opera and Mozilla Firefox (which is the base for the newer versions of Netscape). If you’re using a Mac, Safari should work fairly well too. If you’re using any modern browser on a GNU/Linux or *BSD system, you should be fine (and you probably already know it). It also displays perfectly well in text-based browsers, such as Lynx (last I checked it was fine in lynx, links, links2, elinks, and w3m), though it understandably looks a little plain. :-)
I highly recommend using a browser that supports web standards well.
Sticky
The little guy’s name is Sticky. I think he's awesome. My wife hates him (especially his wonky eye).
Web Browsers, Revisited
Did I mention using a decent web browser? May I recommend Mozilla Firefox or Opera rather than Internet Explorer? They tend to have far fewer security holes. It doesn’t cost anything to give them a try. Please, for the love of the internet, make the switch. ;-)
Accessibility Statement
This site attempts to follow the standards and recommendations of the W3C. All pages should be valid XHTML 1.0 and CSS 2.
I've also tried to ensure that all pages are as accessible as possible to people with disabilities. To that end the following accesskeys have been set:
- 1
- the home page
- 4
- the search box
- 0
- site and accessibility information (this page)
The site should function well with screen readers and other assistive technologies. All pages should also conform to the WAI's accessibility guidelines. I believe I have achieved Level AA conformance, and the only aspects of Level AAA conformance I did not meet are ones I felt did not apply to my site with its current structure.
If you find any pages that are not valid or do not conform to these guidelines, please let me know so I can remedy the situation.
